Magnetic Attraction

These fun frames are great to add to your homes decor or to give as a gift. Completely customizable for any and every occasion: weddings, birthdays, holidays, friendship, baby, etc. You choose the paper, you select the embellishments...let your imagination soar! I have seen these frames sold in local boutiques for $30-$60 dollars!! With this tutorial, I hope you will see how fun and easy these frames are to create.I assure you, you'll have an instant 'Magnetic Attraction'

Let's Get Started

The first thing you will need to do is gather your materials. For this project, you will need:

*Paper Trimmer *Magnet Board *Scissors *Wet Adhesive (I prefer PVA)
*Pencil *Magnets *Embellishments *1 sheet of cardstock
*2 pieces of coordinating patterned papers *Foam brush to apply adhesive

Step #1
Measure your 2 patterned papers fit on the front of the board; you'll want to make sure you leave about 1/2" perimeter all the way around (you'll be folding this part over)

Step #2
Adhere your patterned papers to the front of the board using your liquid adhesive and foam brush. I like to cover half the board with one pattern and the other half with the other- it just gives it a little more visual appeal. If you prefer using only one pattern on the front that is ok too..this is your creation!

*Note*
Anytime you adhere paper to your board make sure to smooth it out with your hand immediatly. Air bubbles can easily form underneath the paper making for a bumpy/unattractive surface. The smoother the better! If you have a brayer or bone folder you can also use that to help eleminate air pockets.

**Note**
The paper on the top and bottom edge will be folded over to the back; crease it where the paper meets the edge.

Step #3
Once you have applied your paper to the front of the board turn it over. Now we are going to fold over the extra paper left over from the front (the 1/2" permieter). Begin by cutting the corners in toward the frame (see picture); this will help you to have smooth tight corners without a lot of access paper.

Once the corners of your paper is cut, it should like this:

Once you have cut the corners, apply your liquid adhesive using the foam brush to the perimeter of the frames back. Quickly fold over the 1/2" perimeter from the front and adhere to the back. Make sure the paper is tight and smooth.

Now your magnet board should be taking shape!!! The front should look like this:

Now that the front of the board is complete, let's just give the backside a finished/taylored look. Take your cardstock paper and measure it to size (you'll want it to completly cover the backside of your board).

Step #7
Once you have cut your cardstock down to size, adhere it to the back of the board using your liquid adhesive and foam brush.

You're board should now be completly covered :)!!! How does it look?

Embellish It!

Now comes the fun part! It's time to embellish your frame with cute coordinating magnets. The magnets are obviously an essential element to your board and this is where you get to let your imagination run wild- have fun with it! Once you have selected your embellishments you would like to utilize as your magnets, simply hot glue a magnet to the back of the element and voila, your done!

Some ideas for magnets:
Purchase glass bubble beads from the floral department of your local craft store and adhere pictures or stamped images to the back of the beads. Diamond Glaze is the best adhesive to use for this technique.

Bottle Caps are also fun! You can adhere small embellishments inside or even stick a photo inside. Simply adhere your elements inside the bottle cap or use diamond glaze to hold everything in place.
